The Names of the 70 Apostles

1. Mark: Preached Christianity in Egypt and was martyred in the year 68 A.D. He also preached Christianity in Lebanon, Syria, Cyprus, and Rome.

2.  Barnabas/Joseph: He introduced Paul to the Apostles.  He and St. Paul served together.  He was martyred in Cyprus, which is where he was born.

3.  Luke: He was a physician and an artist.  He accompanied St. Paul throughout his travels to preach.  He wrote the gospel according to St. Luke as well as the Acts of the Apostles.  He was martyred by the hands of Neron.

4.  Metias: Replaced Judas Iscariot.  He preached to the cannibals and he suffered a lot after which he departed in peace.

5. Joseph/Youstos:   He was nominated to take the place of Judas Iscariot. He preached in the city of Petropolis and he was ordained as a bishop there.

6. Cleopas: He was one of the disciples of Emaus, and he preached many countries, after which he died.

7. Stephen: He is the first of the seventy Apostles, he was also the first deacon and the first martyr.

8. Philip: He was also a deacon and he preached in Ashdod, Caesarea, after which he departed in peace.

9. Barokhoros: He was a deacon and he served with St. John the Beloved. He was ordained bishop over Nicodemia after which he departed in peace.

10. Nikanory: He was a deacon and he was martyred by being stoned in Cyprus in the year 76 A.D.

11. Timon: He was a deacon and he preached in Cyprus. He was ordained as bishop over one of the Baltic cities and he was martyred by being crucified.

12. Birminas: He was a deacon and he travelled to Jerusalem in order to tend to the poor and the widows.

13. Nicholas: He was a deacon, however, his life went astray like Judas, and he became a heretic, after which God shunned him.

14. Hanania: He was a bishop in Damascus. He baptized Saul and he was martyred by being stoned.

15. Lazarus: The one whom our Lord Jesus raised up from the dead. He was ordained bishop over Cyprus, after which he departed in peace.

16. Andronikos: He was imprisoned along with Paul. He served along with Yonias the Apostle and bishop of Binotiyas.

17. Yonias: Was related to St. Paul the Apostle, however, he believed in Christ prior to St. Paul. He departed in peace after enduring many sufferings.

18. Aristopolos: He was a bishop over the cities of Spain, and he was martyred by being stoned.

19. Fresca: He was a bishop over Khoranyas, and eventually, he departed in peace.

20. Judas/Barnabas: He preached the nations through the council of Jerusalem. He accompanied Silas and he was an excellent speaker.

21. Silwanis: He is also known as Silas and he served as bishop with St. Paul over Thessalonica.

22. Olimpas: He accompanied St. Paul in his struggles and he was martyred one day after him.

23. Titus: His is from the island of Crete and he was also its bishop. He also served with St .Paul the Apostle.

24. Aghabos: He prophesied that a great famine and persecution would come about, and he preached in Antioch.

25. Forus: He accompanied St. Paul the Apostle and he preached in many places, after which he departed in peace.

26. Karpos: He served in Judea and he was a bishop over Traus, after which he departed in peace.

27. Abfaris: He was a zealous servant and he served in Colossi, Laodicea, and Hierapolis. Eventually, he received the crown of martyrdom.

28. Abfrodits: He served in Philippi along with St. Paul the Apostle. He also received the crown of martyrdom.

29. Minason: He was a native to Cyprus and he served there as well. Eventually, he received the crown of martyrdom.

30. Embliyas: He served in Rome and he was ordained as bishop over one of the cities of Russia, after which he was martyred.

31. Orbanos: He was a great help to St. Paul. He was also bishop over Macedonia and he eventually received the crown of martyrdom.

32. Simon El Dabagh: He hosted St. Peter in his home and he preached in the city of Bizanta. He eventually earned the crown of martyrdom.

33. Isthakhis: He served in Rome and he eventually received the crown of martyrdom.

34.   Ablis: He was a bishop over Hierikleyah and he departed in peace after a life of perseverance.

35. Abintos: He served in Rome and he was ordained as bishop over Kartagna, after which he eventually departed in peace.

36. Herodion: He was born in Tarsus and he served in Trius. This is also here he was martyred by being stoned.

37. Kidratis: He was of Greek origin. He preached in the city of Magnesia and he was martyred in Athens.

38. Asynkritis: He served in Rome and eventually he departed in peace.

39. Ghayis: He served in Thessalonica and he preached din Antioch. Eventually, he earned the crown of martyrdom.

40. Aristorkhos: He was of Macedonian origin and he preached in Greece. He travelled with St. Paul the Apostle, and eventually he departed in peace.

41. Aftikhos: He served with St. John the Beloved and with St. Paul. He preached in Sebastia and he eventually departed in peace.

42. Simon Clopa: He was the nephew of St. Joseph the carpenter, bishop of Jerusalem. He was martyred at the age of 120 years.

43. Minyan: He taught and preached in Antioch after which he eventually departed in peace.

44. Filighon: He served in Rome after which he eventually departed in peace.

45. Hermas: He was known as the beholder of many virtues.

46. Lins: He was Rome’s first bishop and he was also martyred there.

47. Kotas: He preached in Spain. He also preached in Corinth along with St. Paul the Apostle. Eventually he was martyred in Spain.

48. Tirobas: He served in Rome and he was the bishop of Birtobias. Eventually he departed in peace.

49. Zinyas: He was known for his vast knowledge, and he served in the island of Crete where he also departed in peace.

50. Philemon: He was born in Laodicea and he served in Colossi. St. Paul the Apostle wrote a letter to him. Eventually he departed in peace.

51. Orkhos: He was Philemon’s son and he was bishop over Colossi. St Paul the Apostle invited him to serve with him.

52. Antibas: He was mentioned in the book of Revelation. He was the bishop of Braghams and eventually he received the crown of martyrdom.

53. Tirtiyos: He served with St. Paul the Apostle and he became bishop over the city of Iconia, after which he departed in peace.

54. Lokios El Kayrawany: He was taught in Antioch and he was ordained as bishop over Kinkhiria.

55. Anisiforos: He served in Ephesus and Princia. The emperor of Ephesus dragged him over the rocks and the thorns until he was martyred.

56. Tikhios: He served in Asia Minor. He accompanied St. Paul the Apostle in some of his missionaries.

57. Sostanis: He was ordained as bishop and he was martyred by being droned in the sea.

58. Narkisos: He served in Rome and he accompanied St. Paul in his missionaries. He was ordained as bishop over Lathina.

59. Akhanikos: He served in Corinth and he visited St. Paul in prison.

60. Artimas: He served with St. Paul the Apostle.

61. Bodis: He served in Rome.

62. Trophimos: He served with St. Paul the Apostle and he was ordained bishop over Rome.

63. Sosybatris: He was Greek and a good friend of St. Paul the Apostle. HE was ordained as bishop over Iconia.

64. Fartonatos: He was a native of Corinth, and he served in Ephesus along with St. Paul.

65. Nirios: He served in Rome.

66. Aristos: He was one of those who accompanied St. Paul the Apostle and he was ordained as bishop over Jerusalem.

67. Alexandros: He was the son of Simon El Kayrawany, and he was ordained as bishop over Avignon/France.
