Bishop Yoanas

 Was born in Shobra, Cairo on October 25, 1923, his name was Ramzy Aziz.Anba Yoanas He served as Sunday school teacher with Nazeer Gayed (Pope Shenoda III). He graduated with BA degree on 1952, and worked as a History teacher until 1955. He ordained monk, by the name of Shenoda On July, 31 1955. On September 16, 1956 ordained priest, then hegomain on Sunday December 24, 1961. Then he serves at several churches as Pope Kyrelos secretary. He ordained as bishop for El Garbyah by the name of Yoanas on Sunday December 12, 1971 with Bishop Bakhomious of ElBeherah diocese. He was the one of the first ordained by Pope Shenoda III. He was a secretary of the holy synod from 1972 – 1985. He establish clergy school branch in Tanta, and built St. Paul’s cathedral, which is the first in Egypt. Also brought part of St. Paul’s relic. Also renovate St. Mina’s monastery in Abyar, which serve many people who seek spiritual time there, in addition to many churches he built during his time as a bishop. He was an ideal bishop, who loved the church hymns and wrote 14 books. He was a church ambassador in many conferences abroad. He fulfilled his mission on November 4, 1987. May his blessing be with us.
